I love the books and have been a subscriber for years but am considering just buying the books on amazon kindle. The reader (and web site) is barely acceptable and has not improved in years. This app and service feel like they are on life support and only the minimum is being done to maintain them. The display of the text is poor. You only have a choice of either a white or black background. They're both fatiguing and it wouldn't take much to have something between those two like sepia. Second, 100% size is actually like 200% of the real thing. The layout seems to want to have the font at 50%. The problem is the fonts are poor and can become less sharp at small sizes. Speaking of fuzzy text, some books look terrible and have non-adjustable text that is difficult to read. While there is some great media in the library, a major pet peeve of mine is that some of the non book content is just shovel ware. I have ran across videos that are nothing but a webinar of power point slides given by a presenter using a very low quality mic where you can hear their breath making wind noises against the microphone. It's almost unlistenable and has no reason to exist other than to inflate the number of titles.

I can read books and they automatically sync with the books on the PC, I suppose that's all I really NEED the app to do. The Safari library contains a wonderful assortment of books on leadership and data science, which makes me inclined to use it often. The app is okay. I can set it to a kind of 'night mode' with a black background and I can adjust font size, but overall this is a no (few) frills app. It might be worth noting that I have free access to Safari Online Books and I would probably be more aggravated by the lack of features if I was paying money for it.

I suppose it will never happen now that Safari has a new platform, but this old app was never finished. Even though most of the Safari library seems to be based on ePub, the reader on iPad is limited and amateur. But the biggest problem is why doesn't Safari integrate all its features? I highlighted a book on the web version and wrote lots of notes. These notes and highlights are INVISIBLE on the iPad version. Update: The offline book bag doesn't work either. You might get a few pages, but eventually it fails and says can't connect. Who wrote this stuff?
