Try Wattpad For Lots of Fun, Free Stories and More Review

All the authors that work on this project are required to follow our guidelines. To make the most out of the app testing process, our authors launch it on various smartphones and tablets with not only the latest OS', but also the previous ones.

If you’re a bookworm, you have probably already tried reading on your smartphone, because let’s face it: it is extremely convenient and you can always have lots of books right in your pocket. There is a variety of reading apps available for smartphones that run on both iOS and Android, but only some of them deliver high-quality reading experience. Wattpad is a popular application for reading on your mobile device which might have a great impact on your reading habits and maybe even preferences. Sounds intriguing? Read this article to the end to find out why Wattpad might be just the reading app for you.

Functionality 10/10
Read More

Wattpad is about more than just buying or uploading another book to your smartphone and reading it. In fact, in Wattpad, you aren't going to buy books at all. If you’re looking for some well-known titles or current bestsellers, you aren't going to find them in Wattpad either. What you’ll find instead, are thousands of stories written people like you - voracious readers from all over the world.

When you first start using the Wattpad app, you will be prompted to create an account or login in Facebook. Alternatively, if you have already registered on the Wattpad website, you can simply login using your existing Wattpad login and password. Once you have done that, you will be taken to the home screen of the app, which contains five tabs. In the first tab, you can explore the whole Wattpad library through collections created by other users or authors. You’ll see which stories are currently most popular and if you like one of them, you can start reading it immediately.

If you feel like digging deeper, you can go on and use the search feature in the upper right corner of the screen. Also, you can browse the stories by categories, which include love/romance, horror and fanfiction. Whatever you’re interested in, chances are that someone else also found that topic compelling and wrote a story about it, and that’s the beauty of Wattpad.

Reading in Wattpad is quite a pleasant experience, and if you don't like the default look of the reader, you can change some basic settings like the font type, font size, background and brightness to suit you better. Should that be insufficient, there’s room for some further tweaking, such as choosing reading mode (pages or scrolling), turning auto-scrolling on or off, and orientation lock. All in all, Wattpad might not be the most customizable e-reader on the market, but the available options should be enough for most users. Once you’re done reading and want to exit the reader mode, you’ll be asked whether you wish to add the story to your library. If you do, you’ll be able to quickly find it in the “Library” tab later.

If you particularly like a story, you might wish to go on and read more by the author. With Wattpad, it’s really easy to do: just open the author’s profile and see what else does he/she have up their sleeve. Before you do that, you might want to vote for the story to increase its rating or share it with your friends through other social networks or chat apps.

What’s more, you can actually subscribe to an author and even send him/her messages. In a way, Wattpad acts as a social network for readers and writers, so that they can interact and find out more about each other. Who knows, maybe you'll make some good friends who share your passion for reading on Wattpad. If you subscribe to some authors or other readers, you’ll be able to see updates from them in your news feed. That way, you can always be the first to find out about a new story that has just been published.

Finally, if you feel like sharing some of your own creations with the world, you can easily do that through the Wattpad mobile app, too. Just go to the “Add Story” tab, where you can add a short description for your story, a title and a cover, or just skip it and head to the writing section. You can write straight in Wattpad or paste text from a file, as well as add video and images to illustrate your story. Later, you can add some tags and a category for your story to make it easier to find for your future readers.

Design 10/10

The user interface of the free Wattpad app looks quite sleek and attractive due to its simplicity and the combination of orange and white colors. Unless you have some very specific preferences, you’re bound to like the Wattpad mobile app’s design.

Usability 9/10

The app is quite easy to use and navigate, but some actions, such as closing a story or opening a new chapter within a story might not be obvious for new users, and it might take some time to figure out how to do this or that. However, once you’ve fully familiarized yourself with the app, you won't experience any problems or difficulties with it.

Cross-Platform Use 8/10

You can download the Wattpad app for your devices that run on iOS, Android or Windows Phone/Mobile operating systems. Unfortunately, there are currently no official Wattpad apps for Windows or Mac, although you might come across some websites offering you to download and install a “Wattpad apk for Windows” file. Bear in the mind that those apps do not come from the official Wattpad developers team, and they most likely contain malware which can damage your computer.

In-App Purchases

Wattpad is a free app, and it doesn't offer any in-app purchases.

Wattpad is a must-have for avid readers who feel like the selection of books in their local bookshop or library is simply not enough. Also, people who want to share their passion for reading with others might find the social component of Wattpad highly compelling. All things considered, Wattpad is a great app which has something to offer for anyone - and it’s completely free, too.

Whether you’re more up to the reading or the social component of Wattpad, you’ll love the app for its simplicity, functionality and endless hours of fun you’re bound to have with it.

Pros : Free reading app;
Top-notch user experience;
Lots of interesting stories to discover;
Possibility to interact with fellow readers/writers;
Publishing your own creations has never been easier.

Cons : No dedicated app available for PCs or Macs, so you’ll have to use Wattpad in browser;
No possibility to import a text file when adding a new story.

    I use Wattpad NONSTOP. I absolutely love this site and I can't seem to get enough of it. If you love any bands, groups, anything really, there will most likely be at least a couple of books about it. I, myself, love reading stories about One Direction and 5 Seconds Of Summer. If you're looking for some good ones, I definetly recommend the After series by imaginator1D, Ten Sins by GirLegend99, Yellow by thisnegra, and The Boy Who Cried Suicide by Larry_Lashton.I use Wattpad NONSTOP.
