As a single mom and a full time college student, working my own small business around school and being a mom was the best option for us to survive. It’s also seasonal - I teach paddleboard yoga. When I signed up for MindBody I was told my rate would be identical to square (2.75% for swipes or 3.75% for manually entered cards) . Sadly they severely overcharged me, admitted it and won’t do a thing about reversing the exuberant charges. They put me on a processing rate plan that charged me between 1.75% - 3.75% plus a $9.95 monthly rate plus a $28 quarterly rate plus some other “discount fees” fees on top of it. They raised the monthly rate 5 times in 3 years, to double what I was first charged. From The worst was how much all those extra fees took from my small business: The first year I was in business it was 11.4% of my revenue The second year it was 48.25% of my revenue The third year it was 78% of my revenue Thanks to an accident that caused me to have to take my studio offerings down to a minimum while I recovered is how I discovered this. My sales person never returned my calls their account management department admitted I was on the wrong rate plan. That they had sent me the wrong contract when I originally signed up and so they wouldn’t reverse any fees since I electronically signed it. Yet I don’t remember signing the 5 page, extremely confusing agreement (that looked like my signature was pasted onto mind you) So watch out and have an attorney read your contracts before you sign over the soul of your business to these con-artists

My coworkers and I liked the ap fine enough but recently started having trouble scheduling time off. The replies we get from tech support is the reason why I can’t schedule a break tomorrow at noon is because at some point in the past and/or future I’ve already got that time blocked off. It shows as available on the schedule, which means I can have a client book themselves during the time I need a break unless I block it off first. Seriously. Seems to me like design flaw or bug to be fixed but no, they’ve got no solution, just a scripted word of empathy. So, how do I now schedule a break? I call my boss at the shop and ask him to do it for me if I don’t have access to the full website. The full website is great, I can manage my time off without any problem, no matter if I’ve scheduled time off in the past or the future. The mobile device ap is not worth the space it uses on my phone. I am stuck in the present I guess.

This app has a lot of promise for business owners and staff but falls short on every aspect. Booking is cumbersome and turns clients away. The calendar really needs to be maintained via the computer based program which is also difficult to use. The sales tab should be great for owners but requires you to select every transaction to decipher if it is an actual sale or just a failed attempt. If the list is long going back to the list from an individual transaction takes you back to the top every time. It is also not searchable by date so you end up scrolling endlessly looking for one transaction. Difficult to use would be fine if it was cheap but it's expensive. Especially with the added cost of Waiver King. Waste of time and money for our purposes. Disappointed because on paper it seems like the solution for all our facilities problems. Going back to our previous software after 8 months.
