Frequently Asked Questions
——————————————————————

How does this app record calls?

Take a look at our screenshots for step by step instructions.

When you're on a call and you want to record it, open TapeACall and press the record button. We will put your call on hold and dial our recording line. As soon as our line answers tap the merge button on your screen to create a 3 way call between your other caller and our recording line.

If you want to record an outgoing call, just press the record button. The app will dial our recording line and will begin recording as soon as our line answers. Once that happens, tap the add call button on your screen, call the person you want to record, then press the merge button when they answer.

——————————————————————

Can I download recordings to my computer?

Yes, and we've made it extremely easy to do this. From inside the app you can attach the recording to an email and send it to yourself as an MP3, or you can click the share button and find a short URL that you can type into your computer's browser.

I use this daily in my work since I record every appointment with clients so they can review the content of our sessions. Things I like: responsive tech support. The system somehow lost a nearly 2-hour business call I had recorded which was very disappointing. I contacted tech support and they were able to retrieve it for me, and addressed the issue with the developers and it has not happened since. Also, it's better recording quality than the conference call system I usually use, AND the file size is small enough to put in an email immediately from my phone without needing to have my clients download a file from Dropbox. I give 4 stars instead of 5 only because the beep is audible to my caller (but not to me and does not appear on the recording) even though I have it disabled. Some clients find it an annoyance and a distraction from the flow of our conversation. It seems to beep roughly every five minutes and is described as loud and screechy. Overall it's a time saver for me and very easy to use. The beep may be a deal breaker, though. **UPDATE 2 YEARS LATER** I’ve upgraded to a 5 star review. Beep is gone, hallelujah! Sometime recently a change was also made that allows for the connection time to be immediate rather than the approximate 20 seconds it took for my carrier (Verizon) to bring the call on board. This is fantastic, and much more professional. Also, I *think* the issue was resolved wherein if I had an incoming call it would disconnect my tape-a-call recording. Those issues I discovered since my last review were, in fact, a deal breaker, and I stopped using the app for quite a long time. On a whim I used it on a call that wasn’t critical to record and was amazed at the difference. Thank you to the developers for the changes you made, and for tech support for always being there when the app wasn’t so great.

I downloaded the “free” app!! It sends you a code to type in - And after typing in the code you are not taken to the record button-but you have to submit your fingerprint and then you get a page that says sign up for one week free trial. It will not let you off this page!!! I have all the updates and I had to restart my phone and I still could not get off that one page where if you don’t get the one-week trial you can’t get access to the app. The trick is they know that some people will forget to cancel after one week!!!!! That was 30 minutes of my already short life taken that I will never get back trying to get information as to whether or not I was charged and so forth!!! RIP OFF- RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They trick you into subscribing for their monthly service the first time you try testing it. This is a dishonorable company, stay away at all cost. I tried 4 times to call someone and record. Each time the record a call to their phone number, dropped before the person I was trying to reach answered the call, which was less than 30 seconds. Bottom line, they trick you into thinking the free app is free, but then you have to subscribe to get it to record. Then it doesn’t even work and your stuck trying to get a refund. Buyer beware!!!!!
