Ring.com – Always Home: Stay Aware of Your Home Events Review
Ring is the official app by a famous vendor of security cameras. With this app, you can get the news from your neighborhood with a special social media, and also access your Ring cameras and video doorbells if you have any. Download Ring and feel safe about your home while away!
The app is your dashboard for all the Ring devices you have installed. While you are connected to them, you can get the picture from all of them and watch the locations in real-time. Video doorbells let you see who’s there right on your phone or tablet. With this app, you can also send or receive alerts about all suspicious events happening in your neighborhood to your neighbors.
Like most video-based apps, Ring focuses on the picture from your cameras. The quality depends on the camera first of all, but even if the bandwidth is far from perfect, it delivers a decent picture. The interface elements are just on the screen, and they take as little space as possible to remain usable and not block essential elements of the picture.
You don’t have to watch your cameras permanently. Due to integration, you get alerts every time someone rings your doorbell, or motion sensors detect any motion in front of a camera. Then you can see what’s going on there and react. The app also lets you record video and share it, if you have Ring Video Recording activated.
If you need to talk to someone at your door, you can do it with your phone or tablet just like you do it on any messenger. Ring doorbells offer duplex audio transmission, so they support audio or video talks. When you get an alert, you can select the desired mode.
The app also informs you when your neighbors publish an alert about strange or suspicious things going on in the neighborhood. These social features are useful when you’re away or even abroad.
Cross-Platform Use 5/5
The Ring app is available for both Android and iOS, and for desktop platforms as well. It requires Android 5 or iOS 9.3 or later versions of the platforms. It means that you can revive your old phone or tablet and make it a dashboard for your home security system. It can be even an iPad 2 of 2011! But, of course, you can have this app on your primary devices with even more use.
You are supposed to have at least one device by Ring if you are using this app. So, you have already paid for the app. But there are extras that require extra payments. For example, Ring Video Recording is subscription-based. With it you can save and share your videos without limitations; just for $3/month, you get RVR for a single camera, and for $10/month, it covers all the cameras connected to your account.
The Bottom Line
If you are concerned about the security of your property, Ring offers you complex solutions of hardware and software components. When you have bought even a single camera or doorbell by Ring, this app becomes a must for you.
If you have at least one doorbell or security camera by Ring, you necessarily need to download Ring.com for Android or iOS to make use of it.
