I did the trial and really enjoyed the app so decided to follow through and pay for the year for the multi instrument option. Pros: -the songs are mostly enjoyable to play. -the lessons are broke down fairly short so no more excuses about not having enough time to practice. You have 10 minutes stop lying to yourself and do it. -keeps track of hours played/practiced and has star rating system so if you’re driven by wanting to get a “perfect score” this will be right for you. -you can test out of things if you already know them which is useful. The guitar and piano are broken down into three learning categories so you can test out more specifically in certain areas while not neglecting other things. -Super comprehensive. I picked up a keyboard found it fairly easy to advance. Cons: -as far as guitar goes if you’re using all steel strings I’ve noticed the app has a more significant problem recognizing certain chords. I thought I forgot how to play but switched to my other other acoustic that has nylon strings the app suddenly recognized the C chord again. This could also be because nylon strings are more forgiving but I did some experiments with the app and eventually determined that I am not actually incompetent. It definitely had me doubting myself especially since C isn’t exactly a challenging chord to play. -similar problem on piano, occasionally F won’t be recognized, and it seems to always be the same keys. I’ve mostly solved this by turning up the volume significantly but obviously that’s not great for apartment living. It doesn’t happen enough to be much of a problem, though. -the app has to be restarted occasionally as the sound and mic will stop working. Not really too big of a deal but something that should be fixed. -in practice mode there is no count in after one play through. I don’t understand this concept as it’s very jarring to restart the song immediately onto the first note and never in my life has music been practiced this way. I think I would like this fixed the most because it completely messes with the rhythm. Not a terrible problem since it’s practice mode but would be a lovely fix that would make my casual practices go a little more smoothly. Synopsis: I’ve been playing music for a long time and have never been too great at practicing or understanding certain things. This app has been a game changer for me. I can’t say it’ll be for everyone, primarily people who are more advanced, but if you’ve struggled with music your whole life despite having a solid understanding and kind of want to shape up what you know this might be what you’re looking for.

When I first started playing guitar I was pretty stoked with this app. Although I was mislead to believe that it was $10 per month and I could cancel at any time. After the first few months it has become tedious and extremely frustrating. My guitar is in tune but it doesn’t recognize open strings when I play therefore stalling my progress to open new lessons and new songs. After emailing the company they told me to uninstall then reinstall the app, hahah. Same problems nothing changed and basically I told the company the app was virtually useless. Also every time I want to play a song which a user has put in via YouTube it won’t load and I get a song timed out or it it does happen to load it’s so choppy there is no way I can play it functionally. Yousicians response was they don’t guarantee any user loaded songs to work....only their songs, even though those songs don’t work either. Save yourself some frustration and give this app a pass. Customer service from Yousician was less helpful than the actual app itself. Also all of the songs that do work are terrible and almost have a pretentious sound to them or a mocking sound of the intended artist it’s supposed to mimic. If I could give less than 1 star I would....
