PicsArt Photo Studio: One App, All Photo Editing You Need Review
Smartphones have been evolving incredibly fast over the last several years, and one of the features that have seen a lot of positive changes is the camera. Starting with simple snappers that couldn’t even capture an A4 page of text properly, smartphone cameras have become so powerful that some of the newest ones can perform on par with mid-range digital cameras.
Quite understandably, smartphone users want to get the most out of the cameras, so there are a lot of apps that are supposed to help people capture better photos, edit them later, and even share with others. However, not all of them really deliver the performance promised by developers.
Let’s take a look at the app that has stood the test of time and is probably one of the best options for aspiring, and even professional, photographers who want to edit their photos on the go.
PicsArt Photo Studio app is unlike any other photo editor that you may have used before. It is full of features, it allows you to share your creations with people from all over the world, and it’s free!
So what exactly can PicsArt Photo Studio do? It might be easier to name the things it can’t do, as the photo-editing possibilities of this app are almost limitless. Whether you wish to see yourself as a mermaid on that particularly funny selfie, change the color of your eyes or simply add some text to your picture, you can do all that and more with PicsArt.
When you open PicsArt on your device, the first thing you’re going to see is the online homepage of the service. From there, you can go to a fully-featured camera to take a picture or choose an existing image to start editing it.
You can also import photos from your accounts on various social networks, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Flickr. PicsArt also supports importing files from Dropbox, so there are a lot of sources from which you can get pictures for editing.
PicsArt Photo Studio is a really powerful tool for you to show off your creativity. In the editing module of the app, you get eight blocks with various functions. They are:
- Lens Flare and
As you can see, these named intuitively, so you can get a pretty good idea of what to expect from every block just by seeing its name, but it might still take you a lot of time to fully familiarize yourself with all the PicsArt features.
There is a vast collection of filters available in PicsArt, but you can do a lot more than simply applying a couple of filters. Most effects and functions have additional controls that show up when you apply an effect.
For instance, if you go to the Tool section, you will find an Adjust button there. When you press it, you will be presented with a variety of options for adjusting your photo, ranging from brightness and saturation to adding shadows and controlling the color temperature.
If you want to add some blur to your photo, you certainly have a lot of control over this feature. You can change a host of aspects of the effect, including opacity, hardness, hue, distance, and angle. Still, that’s not a full list of what you can adjust in the Blur section.
Many effects can also be applied using a Brush that is available in various sizes so that you can add the effect even to the smallest elements of the photo.
If you feel like creating a masterpiece with your own hands, not just through digital editing, you can go to the Draw section. There you will be able to doodle on top of existing photos or draw a new picture from scratch on a white canvas. When you’re done drawing, you can save your creation and then share it the way it is or take it a step further and edit with the extensive library of PicsArt effects.
Sharing is taken to a new level in PicsArt, as you can not only post your photos to a selection of social networks but also share them with other members of a built-in PicsArt community. That way, you can make new friends based on your interests in photography and even collaborate on various projects with people from all over the globe.
Add a #freetoedit tag to your photo, and anyone will be able to use it for their creative purposes. Similarly, if you feel that you lack the photographic material of your own, you can delve into the multitude of other users’ photos that are tagged #freetoedit, and find something that inspires you to get creative.
Unlike most other photo editing apps, PicsArt has a sleek and focused design so you shouldn’t find it too hard to make sense of its numerous features. The user interface is simple and attractive, enabling fast access to all of your favorite tools and effects.
PicsArt Photo Studio is a great way to edit your photos, but unfortunately, having a lot of options means that sometimes you might get confused. Even though the developers obviously did their best to make sure that the user interface is as easy to use as it gets, you might still feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of effects and tools available in PicsArt. However, if you become a regular PicsArt user, you’ll soon get used to the multitude of options and learn to choose the ones that are most suitable for your needs.
Cross-Platform Use 8/10
PicsArt Photo Studio Android became a hit in the Play Market in no time. Following such success, the developers have released an iOS version of the app, and recently PicsArt also became available for devices that run Windows 8 and Windows 10 (laptops, PCs, and tablets). There is still no PicsArt on Windows Phone and, more importantly, on Mac, so this is why PicsArt doesn’t get a higher grade in this section.
PicsArt is a free app, so it is ad-supported. You’ll have to pay $5.95 to get rid of the ads, which isn’t much considering how many functions there are in PicsArt Photo Studio.
The Bottom Line
Free PicsArt Photo Studio is everything you’ll ever need to get creative with your photos. It is hard to imagine something that can’t be done with PicsArt, so you’re likely to be satisfied even if you are a sophisticated artist who is extremely picky about their tools. Just grab a brush and mess with your photo until it becomes a true masterpiece or just a funny sketch – it’s all up to you.Collapse
