Navmii (formerly Navfree) is a free community-based navigation and traffic app for drivers.

Navmii combines voice-guided navigation, live traffic information, local search, points of interest and driver scores. Enjoy offline maps stored locally that you can use at home or abroad without an internet connection.

Over 23 million drivers already use Navmii and our maps are available for more than 85 countries across the globe.

• Turn-by-turn voice-guided navigation
• Traffic, speeding, hazard and safety camera alerts
• Community update reporting (traffic, roadworks, accidents)
• Driver and Trip scores and analytics
• Smarter local search (TripAdvisor, Foursquare and What3Words)
• Search using Postcode/ City/ Street
• Local search for places of interest (POIs)
• Integrated Google Street View
• ETA indicator
• Automatic smart rerouting – as road conditions change
• Store your favourite locations
• HD accurate maps
• GPS - no data connection required
• Find your nearest parking, gas/ petrol, tourist attractions etc

Navmii features on-board OpenStreetMap (OSM) maps, which are stored on your device and therefore you don’t need a data connection (unless of course you use the connected services). Use Navmii abroad to avoid high roaming costs!

I think it is ok overall. Features I would really like: -north up button not obvious n does not appear all the time -2D North up overview map zoomed out does not adjust with where moved to, i.e. cursor stay in the middle, I had to move the frame towards where I moved. Also, there needs to be a button to switch between navigating mode and 2D/north up/zoomed out mode so you know where you are in the region of travel. This feature is lacking in many GPS n also GPS app. -Search feature is good n tied to internet social sites but would be better if sites can we enabled/disabled. For e.g. If I want to search only google, n not want too many other results, it would help a lot than too many results cluttering the screen. -hv noticed once if you don't follow route n drive off route a number of times continuously, the whole thing just hangs. Had to quit n restart -option to adjust font size -certain highways hv multiple route numbers n not all are listed

I downloaded the Canadian version of this app before traveling from the US to Canada for a week. Our roaming/international cellular plan prices were outrageous and we didn't have access to a stand-alone GPS device. We traveled over 100 miles daily exploring Vancouver and BC back-woods country. This app was a life-saver. There were many features that make offline travel convenient (recent destinations automatically stored, the ability to search locations such as gas stations or restaurants offline, save and retrieve favorite locations offline). And there were many things that we simply loved about this app (alerts when going 10k/h over the speed limit, ability to set way-points to customize our route). When we got back to the states, I realized I was disappointed to be using Google Maps and iPhone Maps again. I downloaded the US version and will be using this app as our primary navigation system from now on.

Got this app when I picked up my new Pioneer head unit. The navigation functions as it should and mirrors the screen to my in dash nav perfectly. However.... One of the requirements of using the app is the location services setting has to be set to "Always On" rather than "Only when using". This eats your battery life when your phone isn't hooked up to the head unit, even when you aren't actively navigating. While a single charge used to last me all day on my 6s Plus, I have to charge my phone by early afternoon when location services are enabled for this app. Turning it off when not needed is a pain, since it's buried pretty deep in the iPhone's settings and I usually save my destination the night before a trip. Fix the location services problem and it'll be 5 star app any day.
