I find this app to be a lot of fun, especially to stay aware of our place in the solar system. It's actually quite beautiful. One night, I was awake and looked out the bedroom window. In the sky were several bright objects. I was pretty sure they were planets because they didn't twinkle, but I wasn't sure which ones. One was slightly reddish, so I strongly suspected it was Mars, and two were so bright I thought they must be Jupiter and Saturn. Beyond that, I just didn't know. Then I got my iPad and fired up Skywalk. It immediately showed me everything that was going on, including confirmation that the red one really was Mars. One of the bright ones turned out to be Jupiter, but the other was Venus, which was about as far from the sun in the sky as it could get. In the app, it was immediately apparent that all the planets were in a line (plane of the ecliptic), and looking along that line I was able to spot one more planet (Saturn) that hadn't been quite as obvious as the others. Skywalk lets you see what's below the horizon, too. During the night, you can see where the sun is, and during the day you can see what constellations, stars, and planets would be visible if the sky were dark. For me, it seems quite accurate enough. I suspect it depends on the compass in the device you're using. Keep away from magnets and large iron and steel structures! I've tried using paper star charts in the past, and since I don't use them often, I could never be sure I was interpreting them correctly. But with Skywalk, it's just natural and obvious. I use it only occasionally, so I kept the free version, but if I used it more often I would get the paid version -- it seems like a great deal! So, on the whole I am extremely happy with this fascinating app.

ABSOLUTELY NO "STARS" RATING!!!!! (and that is with no pun intended) review process won't allow you to submit without at least 1 star, BUT.... In Key West for vacation and was sitting with family observing beautiful sky. Wanted to know names of some of the awesome "bright lights" we were seeing so I decided to download to my iPhone this app I'd used on iPad -WRONG!!!!!! I immediately, I mean before I got to start, received a boatload of ads, including very loud ones including -of all things in June- Christmas songs!!! Mind you, I actually thoroughly live Christmas songs and tubes, but as part of an ad for a star gazing app??? Needless to say, I found the names of the "bright lights" I wanted to know and immediately deleted the app. Go elsewhere!!! "Downloader beware!!!!!"

This app is nothing but ads. You can't even enjoy the app because the ads temporarily disable the app forcing you to watch them. It also asks you about every 30 seconds if you want to upgrade. Constant banner ad at the bottom while using it and constant interruptions from ad videos. Looks like it could be a good app but like every other free app on iTunes it's nothin but ads and upgrades. Don't waste your time.

To my mind,it's a bad program. I updated and now it's slowly and buggy. Something they have not finished. To my mind,it's a bad program. I updated and now it's slowly and buggy. Something they have not finished.NoSomething they have not finished
