I love the app and news notifications, but HATE that there is no filtering option for them. Notifications are all or nothing, and while there are some that I find useful (weather warnings, breaking news) others are not (celebrity breakups, sports score updates). Because there is no filtering option, my phone is buzzing every few hours with "news" alerts that are most often nothing I am interested in at all. (Just a little while ago I was in a work meeting and got an alert that Phyllis Landrieu rents a house on Airbnb. I do NOT need an alert for that kind of story.) I hope that your app developers will focus on building out notification filtering for the next update.

Just like the previous reviewer noted, this latest version will not open and is thus a totally worthless waste of space on my phone. I'm on the iPhone 5S, so if you have the same model phone, you should probably stay clear of this app. It's totally representative of the "journalism" it contains when it works—garbage, left-wing propaganda, mostly reposted from the Washington Post. I already canceled their newspaper long ago and switched to The Advocate, and it looks like it's time to do the same with the app!

I constantly post comments to one story, and they appear inexplicably in a different one. For some reason it doesn't tweet or message the story you're actually looking at: it picks one apparently at random. Navigation menus contain tiresome redundancies. (Do you want "Home," where there's news and sports, or "News"? Or "Top Stories"?) Horrible app. All in all, it's like NOLA.com itself: third rate but with a local, third-world, quality-control-is-for-people-who-have-no-rum attitude.
