Calendars by Readdle - sync with Google Calendar, manage events and tasks Review

Calendars is the most elegant and easy to use calendar application available on the App Store. It works perfectly with Google Calendar and built-in iOS Calendar.

Calendars allows you to manage events both online and offline. Thanks to the unique interface you can move events simply with Drag & Drop, navigate quickly between dates, change event time and reminders rapidly with custom keyboards.

Calendars supports everything you can find in Google Calendar: appointments, reminders and more. Sync is really fast and your information is always up to date.

What makes Calendars great:

◆ Interface focused on events
Elegant and easy to use interface makes it super simple to get a quick overview of the upcoming events and tasks. You always keep your focus on what's important; there is nothing to distract you.

◆ Day, Week, Month and List views of your events.
Calendars illustrates your Day, Week and Month on a small iPhone screen the best possible way. Depending on the situation, select the view that conveniently unveils your schedule.

◆ First-class iPad calendar
It's one of the best apps for the iPad. The iPad large screen is great for managing your daily schedule and enables richer interaction with your calendar.

◆ The fastest Sync
Sync with Google Calendar works really fast and keeps your schedule thoroughly.

What else Calendars lets you do:

- Drag & Drop your events -
You can move and change the duration of your events in a Day, Week or Month view with Drag & Drop. Just tap and hold on the event to activate it.

- Manage your events online and offline -
You can create, edit and delete events at any time. All changes will be synced back to your account once you are online.

- Special Keyboards -
Appointment time and reminders can be defined twice faster than in the built-in iOS calendar, all thanks to custom keyboards.

- Search -
You can search for events by name in the List view. Tapping on the status bar will show you a search field.

The app is really nice, clean and easy to use. My main problem with it however is that I can't assign recurring tasks to alert me at a certain time of day. I can only have all my daily tasks be marked as all day and I can only set one time to be alerted about every single one of my tasks. I wish there was a more structured way to make the tasks for example: Shower every day have it alert at 8:00am Eat breakfast every day have it alert 10:00am And so on, instead of it alerting that I need to shower and eat breakfast along with all my other daily tasks at 8:00am since I can't set multiple times.

I use this calendar as my primary calendar but it has some quirks I don’t like. In the subject line I will sometimes put a date or time that is different from what I’m actually making date and time. I.e. appointment is @1:30, but in my subject I say leave @ 1:15. The calendar changes what I’ve written to match the calendar and as far as I can tell I can’t turn that off. It’s not major but it’s very frustrating when I type something in multiple times and it never stops correcting me to it thinks I should write. It would also be nice if I could add this to my Apple Watch.

This calendar functions very well and syncs well with Google's calendar. Additionally, the auto timezone shift functions well for those of us that travel often. That said, data entry is cumbersome with entry button options confusing and spread all over the page. Additionally, the colors are faint compared to Google's calendar and it takes several menu clicks to change them. Certainly some room for improvement to make this an even better app, but it is still my go-to calendar over all others currently--already better than Apple and Google calendars!
