thank you for the update to note edit mode interface for mobile. much improved. update to prior review: update: now the clicking on the sync icon w exclamation point tells me the issue—a sync error that was easily resolved. thanks for the update/improvement. resolved prior review gripe: point seems to be fairly stable after a few reinstalls. desktop app constantly tries to sync—sync icon spins for a moment then switches to sync icon red error exclamation constantly—but my notes do appear to be syncing properly. as for my iphone6s performance issues, i’ve stopped downloading notebooks to my phone AND i only work within the Reminders “notebook” when managing and updating my reminders and that seems to make a huge improvement when using the ios app. ... my guess is that my old method of working in All Notes and toggling the Reminders icon on was overly taxing the app as it had to access thousands of notes in the background. all is working well enough now. prior review/gripe: it’s gotten even worse. still have to turn off internet connecting to edit notes w/out app freezing up while i type. updates to my phone now don’t always sync properly—desktop app does not reflect update to notes made on my ios 11/iphone6s. and now even my desktop app stalls with the spinning wheel when i’m just trying to access notes that are on my computer and this is when i don’t even have a network connection. i fear that soon i’ll just have to accept that evernote isn’t going to recover to it’s previous stability and i’ll have to port my entire life in evernote to another app soon and cancel my evernote premium subscription :( prior review: last major update made the app totally unusable for me... now that reminders are sorted by due date - in one of the views at least - it is again usable but seems but barely... en seems to need to contact the server for just about every small edit, so i if my connection isn't lighting fast, i'm constantly waiting for en while it freezes up... still would like more of version 7's functionality back like turning upcoming reminders on and off. also, would be great if i could turn "recent" items off so they're not always cluttering up the top my notebook or favorites list. especially since this new design reduces the amount of actual content i can see on any given screen. probably gonna reinstall 7 and go back to that until there's another update n see how that one is... still don't understand why you guys removed so so so much excellent functionality in this version... the old evernote was such a great indispensable app/service. this version is still a major letdown...

So, I have loved Evernote. Really. I have. Evernote presented me with a simple way to introduce some degree of sanity into a life full of chaos. I fell in love with sharing capabilities, especially being able to create public links, being able to email anything straight into my notebooks, tags,... the whole system. Now, the bugs, the extraordinarily painful time to load... and yes, the customer service that you need to be there when you need it to be there... the service you don’t realize you will have to wait an eternity for if you pay just $3.99/month for the mere Plus subscription... (more accurately, 7-8 days, which is an eternity when you have a deadline you need Evernote to work properly for in... 2 days)... not to mention, the features you fall in love with keep becoming unavailable unless you pay MORE... I hate change. I get attached easily & I have some freakish crazy-a**ed-devotion-genetic defect. I’ve googled to explore other options for the past few months. Couldn’t do it, but now that Im paying $7.99/month, I want the freaking service I’m paying for to work and not spend 30% of the time Im using the app on my ipad trying to recover from crashes (& yes, I check for updates everytime I have a glitch... they’re seldom available). If you can relate to this at all, just bite the bullet. Go back and give OneNote a try. Take all you’ve learned from Evernote, then for simplicity, do a Google search to figure out how to do the same in OneNote. Then do it. Really. Force yourself to set a time limit and give it a try for that long... moving over just the notes youll need during that time, and to create new ones. Three days should do the trick if you're an avid user. Every function I swore I couldnt live without in Evernote is better, easier, faster, in OneNote. As much as I have felt I needed the services provided through Evernote, I swore I didnt mind the tremendous ongoing fee. Well.... now with a side-by-side comparison, I’d pay more for OneNote. Yet, no need. It’s free.

I don’t know how to properly express that though things can’t be perfect, I find it very frustrating nested tags exist on web and desktop (and maybe on Android?) but not iOS. It’s the foundation of my use of Evernote. Tags, I believe, are part of the cornerstone of Evernote’s unique value proposition. I use best practices for naming structures, etc. and use standardized unique tags. I’m aware of saved searches, and I’ve used them, but I shouldn’t need to use them for viewing simple tag categories and hierarchy. Not being able to see the nested tag hierarchy of how Evernote has enabled me to structure my tags on my on-the-go go-to device, when I’m away from my workhorse machine slows me down, and is counter productive. I just don’t use this on mobile hardly at all now, leading me to actually stop using it altogether and work around other ways. Pay for multiple device? Don’t need too! Mobile app is worthless for me now. Without hyperbole, this is THE factor keeping me from subscribing to Plus or Premium. The moment I see this (I know, 3 years +/- coming), Evernote has a paying customer. I know I’m not the only one. **Still holding my breath**
