Google Sheets — Spreadsheet Wizard Review

Review Standarts
Our main goal is to provide full and useful app reviews. Our authors strictly follow the rules: minimum 15 hours of the real app usage experience or gameplay, test on main Android and iOS versions, test on phones and tablets.

Google Sheets is a mobile app for creating, sharing and collaborating on spreadsheets. Thanks to its rich functionality and cloud support, it still remains one of the most popular doc-making tools with a half a billion downloads. Download Google Sheets to handle your spreadsheet game with ease and grace!

Functionality – 4/5
Read More

Google Sheets Android allows you to design spreadsheets and use additional features. For instance, GS supports formula usage so you could crunch the numbers right inside the document without having to run a few separate apps simultaneously.

Moreover, there is clever text formatting, templates, selectable colors and a feature that allows the addition of borders. Graphs and pie charts are present as well. As you proceed with your work, Google Sheets app cautiously saves your progress, synchronizing it with the Google account, As a result, you can access it from various devices later.

Sadly, Google Sheets latest version has experienced a few problems. First, sometimes it spawns a corrupt spreadsheet, causing loss of newly added data. Second, occasionally the file you've been working on may mysteriously disappear. Third, upon launching the app you risk to eye-witness the so-called death circle that just keeps the app on loading on and on.

Design – 4/5

The app is clean and laconic. Calm GUI is green & white with no visual clutter or useless details. The spreadsheets and graphs are easily manageable, so you're fully in charge of their design. What's somewhat upsetting, is that navigation feels laggy, especially if you're working with someone over the same sheet in real time. Our Google Sheets review recommends to avoid frequent online editing from a mobile device.

Usability – 5/5

The app is highly useful. It allows creating spreadsheets on the go, do calculations, make charts and share the documents with your colleagues instantly. However, due to its instability, it's recommended to have a back-up copy of the especially important document.

Cross-platform use – 4/5

Google Sheet download is available for both Android and iOS. To operate it from a PC/MacBook, you'll need to use Chrome, for it is the only browser that supports offline editing. On the brighter side, the whole G Suite will be at your service, once you register an account.

In-app purchases – 5/5

Google Sheets is free, as part of the trademark G package. It features no extra IAPs or other expensive offers/solutions. To begin working with it you'll need only a Google account.

The Bottom Line

Google Sheets free app is the best thing you can have for this kind of price tag. It does suffer from crashes, may refuse to load a few times in a row and doesn't work offline, unless you're using the app/Chrome. On the other hand, it does the best it can at saving your progress, has a whole myriad of integrated smart tools and provides collaboration.

Why am I unable to install Google Sheets (for instance) on my Nokia Lumia 920 smartphone? The download is tested for compatibility against my old Samsung S4 Mini as that was registered on my Gmail account and I am not allowed to amend that apparently despite the fact Google now knows I have a Nokia. Stupid or what? It seems unreasonable that I should have to pay Microsoft more than the 'phone is worth just to obtain a spreadsheet app.
