Microsoft Word Review

All the authors that work on this project are required to follow our guidelines. To make the most out of the app testing process, our authors launch it on various smartphones and tablets with not only the latest OS', but also the previous ones.

It’s important to have the ability to get to your documents anywhere and anytime. With Microsoft Word app it becomes possible. Access, create and edit your documents wherever you are from your phone even when there's no connection to the Internet.

The Microsoft Word app helps you stay productive and allows you not only to view Microsoft Word documents on Android phones and tablets but edit them too. It’s a no-compromises approach to viewing and manipulating files.

Functionality 8/10
Read More

Functionality is one of the most significant characteristics to consider when choosing an app, especially if you’re going to use it regularly. The Microsoft Word app has enough useful and important features. It is perfect for working on-the-go. One of the greatest advantages of using this app is that it’s free

The free Microsoft Word app provides a core experience for viewing, creating and editing docs on devices with a screen size of 10.1 inches or less. You can get the full Word experience with an Office 365 subscription.

There is no complete set of tools, but they provide you most of the advantages you'll require for editing on the go. You can format text directly or use styles. There’s also a possibility to insert tables, images, shapes, text boxes, links, headers, footers, page numbers, footnotes and endnotes.

The number of words in the document or selected text is counted automatically. You can even see the previous version of the file and go back to it if the undo button on the menu doesn't take you back far enough.

The only limitation you should expect is that you can’t open several docs at once. So, be careful when you create a new document because the previous one will be closed automatically. That’s why you won’t be able to look at a couple docs at the same time.

Design 10/10

Word Mobile has a familiar look, feel and quality of Office with an intuitive touch experience designed for Android phones and tablets. If you have to create an excellent document or just want to read it and make some edits on-the-go, this app gives you the best productivity experience you can imagine.

The Microsoft Word app saves all your changes automatically, so you shouldn’t be afraid to lose your necessary edits as you move across devices. You’ll just access your documents in the cloud whenever you want to see them.

Also, the Word app is designed for one-handed use on your phone, with controls at the bottom of the screen.

Usability 9/10

As for usability, the application won’t disappoint you. Documents will look exactly exactly the way you expect them to on your phone or tablet. You won’t have any problems with not being able to find certain features—images, charts, footnotes, formulas and tables.

The app works smoothly whether you use an Android or iOS device. You can access your recent files from any device so you can quickly pick up from where you left off. Also, it’s possible to work with other users at the same time.

Cross-platform use 8/10

Both Android and iOS handle Microsoft Word app well, so you can download the app and use it for free. It’s available for Android 4.4 and up devices. It also requires iOS 9.0 or later. The Microsoft Word app is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

In-app purchases

You can pick and choose in-app purchases depending on your needs. In-app purchases release some functions not available in the free version, for example, word art, the ability to create landscape documents, etc. There are still a lot of useful features in the free version.

With Microsoft Word app, the range of capabilities and compatibility of the desktop version have finally come to your mobile phone. This app allows users to examine and edit Word documents. It also lets users comment, annotate, edit, add footnotes, make charts, tables, do equations, and even create new files.

The app links up with your email, so you will be able to share with the cloud and access documents from OneDrive, Dropbox, SharePoint, and Box. You can even work together with other users on a single document, seeing changes, leaving comments, marking up docs, and seeing others' work in real time.

The Microsoft Word app has earned its popularity thanks to the convenience and a great selection of editing tools, which certainly make it an excellent app to have on your device whenever you need to access, create and edit your documents.

Pros : A powerful word processor for iOS and Android;
Viewing, editing and creating needed documents on-the-go;
Adapting a document to your mobile screen—no more pinching and zooming;
Translate your voice to text with speech recognition;
Securely view or edit your files from anywhere, thanks to integration with cloud services like OneDrive.

Cons : Even on an iPad Pro, you can't edit two documents at once;
Keyboard shortcuts are inconsistent with those of OS X;
No access to Apple's iCloud Drive.
