Simplenote Review

Simplenote is an easy way to keep notes, lists, ideas and more. Your notes stay in sync with all your devices for free. Share notes with other users to collaborate on a project together or to access the same list.

The Simplenote experience is all about speed and efficiency. Open it, write some thoughts, and you’re done. As your collection of notes grows, you can search them instantly and keep them organized with tags and pins. Work with other people on the same note by sharing it and publish notes to the web for other people to see.

The best way to learn about Simplenote is to try it. You'll be asked to create an account. This allows your notes to be backed up online and synchronized automatically.

After you sign up, try creating some notes! Then go to to download Simplenote for your other devices.

I use Simplenote every day on an iPhone, an iPad, and Macs at home and work. I have used it since early days after buying my first iPod touch in 2007. The interface is brilliantly simple, finding the information I've stored is easy, and the synchronization "just works" as expected. Simplenote is an invaluable aid to an aging brain! Apple's Notes app is also great, but older devices may not be able to play, and non-Apple devices can't. Simplenote wins if you need to work across platforms. My chief gripe is that on my iPad Pro 12.9", I get to see only one item arrayed in a column down the middle of my huge screen. Either the list of notes, or the text of a note when one is selected. The screen is big enough to show the narrow column with the list on the left and the text of the selected note on the right. I wish it worked that way. I wish the width was user-selectable, so I could see more of my text rather than wasted empty space. It's funny that other apps are gaining popularity because they work like Simplenote used to.

I've had SimpleNote since my iPod Touch days (at least 6 or 7 years now, I think?). I LOVE how simple it really is: opening notes on the web and in my phone is seamless, the interface is awesome, no ads or annoying in-app purchases, and it's so reliable. I recently had to restore my phone and getting all my SimpleNotes back was super easy! Features I would love to see in a future update: time/date stamping on each note, and an easy way to export all the selected notes (with a time and date stamp) as a big text file. Right now I use MomentDiary for that, but I would love to be able to use just SimpleNote! Also, it would be nice to be able to export each note with the titles intact. Otherwise, what an awesome app!

WOW! I needed an app to replace the Notes app when I got an android phone and this one basically does that! I thought for sure there would be tons of free apps that do the same exact thing as the Notes app because it seemed like the simplest thing in the world, but I've found that is not the case! EverNOT--as I now call it--is a pile of garbage that lagged while typing. While this one doesn't seem to be doing that yet! I wish you could bold and italicize text, and have just a note's title, rather than a portion of the note, appear on the title screen, but that's not a huge deal. Congrats SimpleNote, on a job fine done.
