Target: Better Shopping Through Apps Review

All the authors that work on this project are required to follow our guidelines. To make the most out of the app testing process, our authors launch it on various smartphones and tablets with not only the latest OS', but also the previous ones.

Target is the official app by the eponymous market chain working all over the US. The app informs you about new goods, brings offers and discounts, and lets you find stores around. Download Target for iOS or Android and save time and money on digitized shopping!

Functionality 5/5
Read More

With the original Target app, you can get better shopping experience. Create your shopping lists at home or on the road and then check it. Place items to your virtual cart and get them at the store. Find stores with a built-in map. Enter your credit card and get bonuses for paying with it.

Design 5/5

The app follows the corporate guidelines, using white and red colors and circles, the elements of the logo, in its own looks. Still, the designers focused on delivering the info on particular deals, goods catalogues, and alerts for users. Some design elements are doubtable; say, adding items to the cart requires scrolling down to the bottom of the page. But these issues are minor.

Usability 4/5

Target app has all it takes to make a decent shopping app. It gives you access to the online catalogue, so you can add items to your cart remotely and then make your orders when you arrive. Finding stores is also easier with a map offered by the app. So is paying at the checkout; just enter your credit card to the app and pay with it.

As for profits, the app lets you use digital coupons, participate in Circle program with weekly discounts, and use other offers. They are easy to check and track, because you get a reminder each time a new offer is here.

You can use the app as a guest, but it’s meant for using with your account. It provides you some personal attitude, like special offers, birthday gifts and discounts, and so on.

Lots of individual issues are reported, but they tend to be very various, and, probably, it’s mostly compatibility problems. The overall usability is okay.

Cross-platform use 5/5

The official Target app is available for Android and iOS, though its requirements are unexpectedly high, and on old phones it may work slow. On the other hand, the app mostly dubs the info available on the official website, and it’s updated as frequently. So you can use the web version instead.

In-app purchases

The app itself is free, but it’s still all about shopping. Formally, you even benefit from using the Target app, because you get informed about new deals and offers and can save big on them. On the other hand, the app still supports payments with its own virtual card, offering you real material goods and noticeable discounts instead.

The Bottom Line

If you prefer Target as your primary market chain, this app is a must for you. It provides all the necessary info for you, lets you do the shopping with the virtual cart, and lets you enjoy special offers and discounts.

If you are a Target customer, it makes sense to download Target app for your mobile and use it actively.

Pros : Digital catalogs and virtual cart;
Discounts and offers of the week;
Built-in store maps;
Target Circle program easier with the app;
Paying through the app at checkout.

Cons : May work too slow on some devices;
The support is slow to react;
Issues with selecting the right card.
