IMVU Mobile: A Gamified Romantic Social Network Review
IMVU Mobile is a social network combined with an online RPG, in Second Life or Avakin Life. In IMVU, you can create your 3D avatar, your environment, your style, and socialize with millions of other users. Download IMVU Mobile for Android or iOS and join one of the most beautiful places online!
It’s hard to specify whether it’s a game or a social app because it’s all of that. In it, you can be what you want to be and do what you want to do as your digital alter ego. In this game, you can start chats, add friends, create the Insta-like profile of your virtual self, or just try different looks and see what suits you the most. If it’s a game, then one with no aim, focused on the process.
The app is mostly about design; the essence of it is in creating the life you want to live, and the look you want to look like. It’s a 3D world with places for chatting and having fun, that are interesting just to look at. In addition to real-life imitation, IMVU has its own Instagram-like photo-based social network that enhances your profile.
When you launch the app for the first time, you can register with an email or Facebook account, or use the one you have. Then select your gender, choose your clothes, accessories, and welcome to the chat! You can invite your friends or just search for new contacts, friends, and maybe more.
The developers did their best to form the best chatting experience. The virtual chat rooms look like 3D places, mimicking some real-life ones (like Buckstars café), or just creating the atmosphere for a party, intimate communication, or showing your attitude.
If you see IMVU Mobile as a design tool rather than a game, you will appreciate its emoji maker. With it, you can create an emoji set based on your character and use it in your regular messaging, and it looks great, no matter what device you use. But if you want it to resemble the real you, it will take some work.
Cross-Platform Use 5/5
IMVU app is available for iOS and Android, and the requirements are rather low. So it’s able to run even on devices of 2013 (but not earlier). The app requires constant Internet connection and about 200MB of your storage, and this volume will grow over time. As your account is based on email or Facebook profile, you can switch between platforms and keep playing seamlessly.
Though the app itself is free, you can purchase items for in-game credits that require real money. For example, an outfit you are proposed for $0.99 at the very beginning is quite an attractive offer if you want to build your image right from the start. There are also subscription plans for hosting your own room, which also include some in-game currency and tokens for extended features.
The Bottom Line
It’s a very amusing social experience in a 3D world, looking like a game, but with no given aim but simply socializing and impressing. With it, you can visualize your sort of success, or practice communicative skills, or just spend your time. It’s pure fun, but don’t get too addicted and upgrade your character at the expense of your real self.Collapse
If you like virtual social adventures, you will certainly be satisfied if you download IMVU Mobile. It’s a beautiful bright and colorful 3D world to spend a part of your life.
Pros : Great visuals;
Millions of users worldwide;
Imitating both real and virtual life;
Moderate system requirements;
Cons : All the best content is paid;
The game part doesn’t reach the full standards.
