Weather is an essential part of our lives. We can’t go out without knowing what weather is outside. We can start a dialog on this topic with almost anyone. No wonder why do so many people start their mornings with the weather forecast. Moreover, the apps with forecasts are the most top apps in everyday use.

But there are so many forecast apps available that it is hard to pick the one that you will like and that will work for your location. Such apps are mostly created with the same algorithm and look similar to each other. However, some of them can slightly differ. For instance, regular built-in apps that come preinstalled on your phones are completely serviceable and can give you a forecast for as many places as you want; they also can be controlled with the phone’s voice assistance.

All these apps get information from a few sources like the Weather Channel and Weatherbug or AccuWeather and Weather Underground. The Weather Channel tells the weather forecast to Apple’s users, and Weather Underground gives its data to Google and Yahoo for their weather apps.

Functionality 5/5

How does Weather Underground get any information? Well, all of the data is received from NASA, satellites, balloons and local stations. All of these sends the info about our atmosphere. Next step is the analyzing of received information by computers and meteorologist and forming a forecast.

Weather Underground gives you a clear and detailed info about your local weather. The app gets real-time regular changes of weather for each particular location. There are status alerts available for you. They let you see the temperature and conditions of the weather in any particular part of Earth. The app provides you with such info like wind’s speed and wind's direction, humidity, sensation, even dew point as well as visibility.

The Weather Underground: Forecasts can give you a detailed forecast for ten days where you can check the weather even by hours. When you click to see an interactive map, it shows you what are the closest station and display its data of the radar, satellite, etc. You can also save some locations if they are your favorite ones or in case you just like to sit in the office and check what’s the temperature on the Bahamas today.

There is also a search history that keeps all your search results.  The app sends you special user messages as well as notifications if the weather has some significant changes in the closest time. There is an option with reports available that might be extremely useful for nature lovers and sports enthusiasts.

For the interface features, you can set a light or dark background, customize your widgets and even display such information as flu outbreaks, air quality monitoring, UV index. You can switch the app’s settings and get information only from the National Meteorological Service Radio or from the National Meteorological Service.

Design 4.5/5

Weather Underground: Forecasts has a beautifully designed interface with a pretty nice color scheme of black and blue. The interface is simplified. Thus it should be understandable for any user. There is a plenty of various windows and blocks available, but when opening the app, you see at first the tab with your location, current conditions of the weather and a small panel at the top.

This panel has four different buttons: the left one is for settings, then a searching line, one for editing your geo position and the last one for sharing options. If you scroll the tab a little bit down, you can see the detailed weather for the day. But if you need a future weather info, just swipe the tab and go to the next one.

There is an integral map available with a few options for a view. You can find a tab with the information about sunrises and sunsets, one with air conditions, with other users’ messages about some unexpected weather changes or situations. The app’s widgets also look pretty nice. You can see with them all the needed information on the half visible background.

Usability 5/5

Weather Underground: Forecasts is easy to use because it has a simplified interface and offers widgets to its users as well. So to check the weather, there is no need to open the app. All the info will be on the screen right after you unblock the phone.

Somebody might be curious more about the wind, others in the rain, someone can be interested only in the calendar information. So this forecast app is helpful for all users and provides you with the fresh and detailed information.

There is also an option with push notifications for those who wants to catch all the weather’s changes or simply forgets to open the app. Weather Underground: Forecasts has access to about 180 thousand weather stations in different countries, so you’ll get the info wherever you are.

Cross-platform use 4.5/5

Weather Underground: Forecasts is cross-platform and will run any device with Android or iOS platform.

In-app purchases

Weather Underground: Forecasts is free but has some advertisements. There is an option available to purchase a one-year subscription and don’t have ads at all.

Conclusion

Weather Underground: Forecasts is incredibly useful and informs you with the updated detailed information anytime. It has a perfect interface which is completely understandable to anybody and the way it gives all of the weather data is nice and simple. This is the right app to start your morning with, and it’s exactly that app what you need to use before you step outside.
