Latest update fixed the crashing. Hurray! I knew you could do it! ——— Just now installed the latest update (10/31/17), and it still crashes immediately upon sending weather feedback. iOS 11 isn’t making things easy, but I have faith in you! ———— Yep, still my favorite--super local weather AND compiled info on fronts etc makes it a winner. They bought the iPad app that was my other fav and incorporated into another app called Storm--also good. I like the Control Center widget on this one. New version: This is still the best weather app for iPhone. (I have another one I love for iPad, but I use my phone far more.) You do have to scroll a bit to see everything on the front page--I didn't even know all that stuff was there for a long time. But I like being able to use and verify my neighbor's weather data, and I love being able to toggle between hourly and daily forecasts. Keep up the great work! Previous version: I don't know about the semi pro spotters out there, but for me this app is great, and far and away the best weather app available. Love that I can keep the weather radio in the background while I look at radar and flip through screens. Since we no longer subscribe to cable tv, this makes the app an excellent resource for (impending) emergencies, like the storms we are expecting in a few hours!

To get what's been happening to the WUnderground app, one needs only to look at the history of the WUnderground website. It used to be a great weather website. Fast, light, detailed, to the point - an improbable combination. Then, after ruining their own site to the point of unusability, in came Gradually, the number of bells and whistles grew, the performance of the site dwindled, and the advertising became unbearable. These days, is a mirror of a slow, fat behemoth that never quite left the early 2005 internet behind. Unfortunately, the same has started happening to the app this year. While it was once really the fastest and the most useful feature-rich app on the app store (at the same time, no small feat!), it's been in decline. Useful things are going, bloat, gimmicks and bad ads are coming. Storm, the accidental offshoot, remains ok for now, but based on the past track record of the efficient managers at TWC, it will eventually go too.

I'm a paying customer who has used this app to assist with my landscape photography and outdoor activity planning for more than a year. It was great until the last few months or so when newly introduced bugs seemed to pile up and wreck the user experience. Thankfully the latest update appears to have fixed the most prominent bugs, and the app is once again enjoyable to use. However, I still see room for improvement - the performance and responsiveness do leave a little to be desired. Scrolling on an iPhone 6 is jittery, and the actual weather data is slow to update on an LTE cellular connection, and sometimes the app insists on showing you stale data until you force a refresh. Seems like they could probably improve the load times with faster servers, a lighter data payload, and some good old compression. Background refresh would also be nice - it doesn't seem to update in the background for me.
