Chromer than Chrome: Lightweight, Lightning Fast
When speaking of Marshmallow advantages available on previous Android versions we mentioned Chrome custom tabs. This feature helped to load pages instantly within the app you see the link in. At that time, we recommended using Link Bubble or some lightweight third-party browser as a default one.
But today we have an app called Chromer. And yes, in some ways it is chromer than Chrome. The app developed by Arunkumar helps to solve the mentioned problem and allows creating custom tabs.
We have tested Chromer with social network apps, messengers and some other apps. And we can confirm that it really speeds up opening external pages.
After installing Chromer each app on your smartphone or tablet gets access to it and a possibility to use it as default inner browser. For you not to forget to set Chromer as a default one, the developer has put this option in front of you on the first page you see after installing it.
We have tested Chromer with social network apps, messengers and some other apps. And we can confirm that it really speeds up opening external pages. Though, of course, Instant Articles on Facebook are way quicker to open, Chromer’s effect is also noticeable.
In all other aspects, Chromer is a browser as it should be, with default functionality. It can keep multiple tabs, store your logins and passwords, display pages as they are or transform them into the easy reading version. And it even has its own data saving engine like Opera Mini that lowers your traffic consumption. The app is still based on Chrome engine reworked a bit to make it lighter and faster. So if you are used to Chrome, Chromer will bring no surprise to you.
This app is one of those you first don’t understand what they are made for, and a week later you can’t live without.
The only reason not to install Chromer is that your device runs Marshmallow already then custom tabs are a system feature or is stuck on ICS or earlier Android version with no update possible as then it just won’t run.
