Dropbox Adds Scanners, Ton Of Other Features
Dropbox just got updated in a serious manner and now you can undertake weighty tasks using the app.
With the update affecting both desktop and mobile, we'll focus on the latter. The most useful and game-changing addition is the mobile scanner which you can use to scan whiteboards, receipts, documents and more - albeit the good old camera still wins when it comes to speed. The edge Dropbox has over the camera is searching within the image, but you have to own a business account to use it.
Along comes tight Microsoft Office integration. As per Material Design instructions, you can tap the plus button to create a new document in Word, Excel or PowerPoint without leaving the Dropbox app at all. the files you create will be automatically synced with your account, and that was hard not to anticipate
Here's how the doc scanner works.
Another great perk is browsing file history - you're free to check how the previous version of your file looked earlier in case you want to restore it, but don't know which one you should send.
Perhaps the most redesigned feature is sharing. The new approach allows you share a single file with a group of people and set different access options for files and folders, something locked out for non-business account owners.
