How To Upload Images To iCloud Photo Library From iOS Devices, iCloud
It’s not a secret to anyone that high-quality photos and videos can take up a lot of space on your device. Obviously, you don’t want to sacrifice the quality of your files only to save the storage.
With the help of iCloud Photo Library, you can not only save all the photos without cluttering your phone or tablet but also access them from any device.
There are some steps that you should follow to enable iCloud Photo Library on your device that runs on iOS 8.1 or a more recent version. To do this, you have to:
- Go to Settings and tap on iCloud.
- Tap on Photos.
- Turn on iCloud Photo Library.
Once you complete these steps, your entire library will be uploaded and stored in iCloud. In case you want to use other iOS devices with iCloud Photo Library, you should repeat these steps on all of them.
Managing the photos in the library
When your iCloud Photo Library is turned on, you can choose how you want your files to be stored: using Keep the Originals option or Optimize iPhone/iPad Storage. The first option allows you to maintain the original resolution of the images in iCloud Photo Library and on your device. But, when you choose the second alternative, the size of files will be reduced on your iOS device while the images at full resolution will be available in your iCloud.
To view the pictures uploaded on iCloud from your device, you should:
- Sign in with your password and Apple ID on iCloud.com.
- Click on Photos to see the uploaded images.
- Wait for the Library to prepare the photos. The first time you do this, the process may take some time.
When everything is prepared, you can view the pictures and mark them as Favorites by tapping the heart icon.
It should be noted that when you favorite a particular image on the website or one of your devices, it will be favorited on other devices as well. Moreover, the same applies to deleting the photos.
Uploading your pictures from your computer
To upload the images from your computer into the Library, you should have Photos selected and be logged into iCloud.com. The first option is to simply drag and drop your files onto the website to upload them.
Or, you have the alternative to:
- Press Upload in the upper right corner.
- Find the pictures that you need.
- Click on Choose in the lower right corner.
After these steps, the images will automatically appear on all other iOS devices. The free version of iCloud offers you 5GB of storage space. You can choose from four other paid subscriptions if 5GB is not enough for you.
Using iCloud Photo Library is certainly an excellent way to save space on your phone or tablet while having access to your photos no matter where you are or which device you have with you. Also, it gives you an opportunity to protect your photos if any of your devices crashes.
