Instagramization Unavoidable: Netflix Experiments With New Design Ideas
Netflix iOS and Android applications will have now a new design feature— a feed that consists of snippets of extras from various shows. These videos play on their own, noiselessly and you can scroll down the screen horizontally until you detect something worthy of your attention. Such a design concept is strongly reminiscent of ideas implemented in the Instagram interface.
According to the streaming giant's statement: "We are testing a feed of video extras in our mobile app to help fans connect more deeply with the titles they love and discover new ones to watch." Sincere, heartfelt care about your subscribers is always a good thing. But at the same time, Netflix UI risks to get a little busy and cluttered. Just imagine a myriad of snippets playing at the same time.
At least this pandemonium is noiseless. So far the new feature is still in its testing stages and it's undecided yet if it stays forever or goes. In the meantime, you can share a title art of your beloved Netflix show, linking it to your Instagram account. It will be browsed in Instagram Stories and also link back to Netflix so the movie/show could be watched by your followers.
