Snapchat Is Acquiring A Search Company
Developers of Snapchat continuously work on adding new features and filters to the app, thus keeping it exciting for its users. Just recently we found out that one of the things on the company’s agenda is acquiring a company Vurb for $110 million. For the majority of users, the name of the company won’t say anything, but it is a five-year-old search company that is likely to change the way the search function of Snapchat works.
How can Snapchat benefit from Vurb?
Although the Vurb application is not extremely popular, it is actually quite neat. The app allows you to quickly find all kinds of entertainment, events, activities, and places to eat using location data. Moreover, you can quickly share the search results with your friends if you’re making plans and want to be on the same page. When it comes to the history of the company, it managed to receive $10 million from investors but after that, the application hasn’t caught on for users of iOS and Android devices to the extent that was expected.
A lot of experts are quite confused regarding the future acquisition of Snapchat.
The most likely explanation behind this purchase is that Snapchat will use the search technology of Vurb in order to facilitate the finding of content and users in the app. At this point, the search function of Snapchat is far from perfect. Another option is that Snapchat want to give users an opportunity to share information with the snaps, but we’ll have to wait to find out.
