Super Cat Bros review
Super Cat Bros is an adorable pixelated platformer from the FDG Mobile Games, entertaining and well-crafted game. In the center of the game is a conflict between cats and monkeys. A group of cats, peacefully traveling on a hot-air balloon, was knocked down by these primates. The members of a cat gang are now scattered around the surroundings. You control a cat and try to find and rescue your friends to gather the group together, avoiding monkeys, collecting items and exploring the game worlds.
The graphics are bright and vibrant and the pixelated art style adds to the game’s charm. The cats are incredibly adorable and loveable. There is a wide array of different cats and each one has its unique and distinguishing animation, expressing diverse personalities. The backgrounds are vivid and colorful. The levels’ landscapes vary from the world to world, and each one has two or three different types of terrain.
The aim is simple and straightforward - get from the point A to the point B, finding an exit to the next level. On the way you gather items, avoid enemies and explore the levels to find hidden gems.
You start with one frisky little cat in the first world of the game. But you’ll unlock a new cat in each of the following worlds. Each cat has a unique ability: can break through walls, climb furthest up walls, swim against strong currents or get to the dark places. Different parts of the game require different skills: to find secret exits to the hidden levels or collect items that require the special cat to be picked up.
The game offers six worlds and fifty levels scattered across them. You’ll find a town in each world, where you can shop and talk to the locals, and one secret level to search for. The checkered area at the end of each level is an exit to the next one. Sometimes you’ll need to obtain keys on your way to move forward. There is a number of collectible bells in each level, in hidden and in visible places. Obvious ones can be still hard to reach, for some bells you’ll have to backtrack and use rescued cats whose abilities may help. When an enemy touches you, even briefly, you get knocked out for five seconds. If you take two hits in a row, you lose a life and are thrown back to the start.
The levels are bite-sized and last a short time. They are not too hard to complete, but to gather all the bells and find hidden levels, you’ll have to switch cats and use helpers. Helpers are the creatures that follow your cat around through the level and assist in the struggling chunks of the game. You can get helpers in the shop, using coins you gather over the course of the game or watch a video ad for a free helper. When you buy one in the shop, you get the item that activates the helper. You can use it at the start of the level or anywhere you find a pink blanket. It also allows you to switch between cats you have in your party. Consider these pink blankets a hint, that the cat with special skills is required to move forward or to find some hidden pieces.
The controls are incredibly simple but need some time to get used to. You control everything with tapping.
You tap and hold right of left side of the screen to move in the required direction.
A double-tap makes your cat dash, and if you sprint off the edge of a cliff, you’ll jump. To climb the walls, you just walk into them. You’ll climb as far as your cat’s skills allow. To jump off the wall, press the opposite side of the screen. As you unlock more kitties with special abilities, you’ll get to make new moves.
The controls are smooth and responsive, there are no lags, so all your taps remain registered.

As for the simple leaper, Super Cat Bros has lots of hidden depths to discover. Secret levels, a variety of kitties, concealed collectibles make the gameplay engaging and addictive. There are lots of things to keep you interested. The graphics and adorable kitties make the gaming experience satisfying. You will play over and over again, trying to collect all the bells and uncover secret levels.
Super Cat Bros is a free-to-play game, but you’ll have to bear with ads, popping up every few levels. The number of lives is limited and requires time to recover. You can buy IAPs to get unlimited lives, to remove ads or to double your coins for $1.99. There is also a special Golden Cat IAP that powers up your kitty. For $4.99 you can buy a Premium Pack, which includes everything. After purchasing a premium unlock IAP, you’ll still be able to watch ads to get free helpers. But it’s doubtful you’ll need them, as a premium pack will make your pockets full of coins.
The bottom line
