Growtopia is not a typical 2D sandbox created by the collaboration of Robinson Technologies with Hamumu. This game might seem as another Minecrafty sequel with the main game goal of creating custom worlds, but it has some striking elements that differ this game from others.
This game is a universe of endless worlds that you can build and decorate in your way and populate with own creations. It is an online game, therefore to join the virtual world with other players you need to connect to the game’s servers. Right after you connected, you'll be able to build your first block and start looking for the game’s foundation - seeds. All items that you find in the game are made of different types of seed
s. Only they can grow items. You can splice seeds together and get a huge variety of things from their combination.
Growtopia was developed as a multiplayer, and this fact makes the game even more excellent for all mobile devices. It’s an online open-world sandbox that is worthy to try.
Don't want to start with the sad parts of the game, but I have to. The Growtopia developers seriously need to work on graphics. The game’s graphics is so primitive and definitely not elaborated in details. Therefore it can be hard to play Growtopia for unaccustomed users the first few times. You will get distracted by poor graphics and won’t feel the game’s atmosphere and understand all the sense of playing.
However, after playing for a few times, you’ll stop noticing the rough defects of the graphics and get passionate about the gameplay and social interacting with other players. Thankfully, the part with the graphics is a single significantly weak point of Growtopia.
In Growtopia you’ll create things in a rather unusual way called ‘splicing’ method. This means that you’ll have to put seeds in certain combinations and get things from them. Apart from growing seeds, you’ll need to spend some time on digging around to find necessary for cultivation tools.
Growtopia is entirely based on the planting and splicing concept with such elements as collecting gems and building custom worlds with unique inhabitants. That’s why your first task will be digging in soil to find some dirty seeds and gems. After you plant seeds, they will grow into mature trees in a real-time: some might grow in a few seconds or minutes, others can be ready to give a harvest after some hours or even days.
Each seed, as well as an item, has own rarity score that ranges from one to 100. You’ll find in the game some common as dirt seeds that are not high valuable, or you might find a rare 100-scored figurative Holy Grail. As mentioned above, you will combine seeds during the game, but not all combinations will work for you.
There is an in-game store, where you can buy some gems or desired items. Besides the gems, you can buy other cool things there like privacy locks, clothing items, seeds, some of the environmental items and an increased inventory so you can carry around more stuff.
Playing Growtopia in the online mode, you’ll be faced with other players. You should interact with them tightly because whenever you need few seed packs, you can ask them to trade with you or splice seeds together. So to move on in this game, you have to use all available chat options and make new friends or stay in touch with your current ones.
With online games like this where everyone can interact, you should expect that some people will try to destroy your creations and make your life tougher. But there is a feature in the game that lets you lock down your world and keep it safe.
All you’re required to do by the gameplay is building custom worlds and its inhabitants, protect these worlds from robbers and looters and grow seeds endlessly. In Growtopia you can do whatever is on your mind with your friends or by yourself.
The game controls are amazingly convenient. You’ll move and jump around in the game by on-screen arrows. There is also a side scrolling for the landscape. Pushing the tab at the bottom center of your screen will make any item tidily slide up and down. Tapping directly on the item and then on the playing field will place the selected inventory on the particular section. You’ll also be able to destroy things simply punching them. To turn on this function just select the desired area and tap on it or use the action button.
It is quite difficult to place the virtual controls on a small mobile’s screen and make it work smoothly even though the game is played only in the online mode. But Growtopia developers have worked hard on such delicate moment as controls and gave to the players some simple tools that work incredibly well with either using onscreen buttons or by direct tapping.
Replay Value 4/5
All you’ll do in Growtopia is running around and exploring different worlds, keeping and planting seeds to grow items and just building cool things and interacting with other players in the game. But despite the gameplay simplicity, it can be even more fun, that you might think it is.
The fastest way to get new seeds and grow desired things is to spend more gems. The earned during the game gems will be spent quick, and the process of earning new ones might feel a little bit slow. There's an option to get a few packs of gems for free by downloading and running a free game from the marketplace or something like that. But sooner or later you’ll be forced to purchase some additional gems to move on in the game.
Growtopia is an exclusive sandbox platformer for Android and iOS devices where you can collect, trade and protect your self-made worlds, collaborate and communicate with other users. It’s also possible to explore millions of user-created worlds.
This game is free to download and doesn’t require from you to sign up for any accounts. Simple and easy enough to work on the mobile platform it still has a lot of options for customization and socialization. It also allows you to transfer your progress between several devices.
Growtopia is good for quick play sessions and will open to you unexplored worlds with structures of your creation. Also, try to work with other players or explore their worlds, it can be surprisingly exciting.Collapse
If you’re an admirer of Minecrafty games, you’ll find this game extremely interesting due to all its unique features.
