Harry Potter: Wizards Unite — Hogwarts Goes AR Review

All the authors that work on this project are required to follow our guidelines. To make the most out of the game testing process, our authors launch it on various smartphones and tablets with not only the latest OS', but also the previous ones.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is a mobile AR game, which takes you to the world of wizardry and magic battles. Defeat evil mages and their malicious minions, collect Portkeys, create your magic ID and do more stuff that is regularly forbidden in the Muggle world. Download Harry Potter: Wizards Unite to know what it feels like to be an expert wizard!

Similarly to Pokémon Go, the real world will be your game arena. Enemy, artifacts, portal models and animations are pretty decent. The battles are energized with various effects that show a spell charge up and casting — they look and feel impressive. Bits from the Harry Potter movies, including music and voice acting, are present as well, adding an authentic vibe of the HP universe.

Gameplay – 4.5/5

Recently premiered, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite release date was June 21, the game makes a Hogwarts graduate student. As a part of an elite Statue of Secrecy Task Force, you are ordered to investigate reasons behind The Calamity — a massive cataclysm that released Foundables, monsters, spells and other magic stuff into the Muggle world.

You'll be offered to create a Ministry of Magic ID, using a selfie of yours. You will also select:

  • Name.
  • Wand type.
  • Hogwarts House of choice.
  • Specialization: Auror, Magizoologist, Professor.

After that your activities will include detecting the magic presence, snatching and returning Foundables, composing potions and defeating foes of various size and danger levels. Luckily, if you're ordered with an extremely reckless mission — like a Fortresses challenge — your friends can join to assist you.

As our Harry Potter: Wizards Unite review has figured out, your energy supply is limited in the game. To replenish it you'll need to visit Inns and collect coins. Sadly, their number is quite meager so you'll be constantly encouraged to pay real cash for power-ups: price tag can go up to $119.

Controls – 4/5

The game has partly rhythm-based tap mechanics. They aren't too difficult to master, though a few imperfections have been found. Namely, some spells fail to trigger in time when tapped — it may cause unfavorable consequences.

Replay Value – 5/5

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite gameplay looks really limitless. Apart from a variety of events, there are also Greenhouses to build, potions to brew, investigations to conduct and anti-wizards to defeat. The game has a full-fledged story with an intriguing plot, so we expect more enjoyable quests and content to be added.

The Bottom Line

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite latest version is still to be perfected and de-bugged. There are already some complaints flowing in about a small amount of Inns. At the same time, it's the first AR Harry Potter title, which can be your new summer adventure. Especially if you assemble a Magic Squad with your friends.

Download Harry Potter: Wizards Unite to learn what triggered The Calamity and also to ally with your friends to oppose the supernatural evil forces!

Pros : Wizard ID;
Cooperative events;
Intriguing plot;
A ton of quests;
Upcoming World Challenges.

Cons : Bugs & glitches;
Insufficient Inns;
Energy depletes fast;
Pricy IAPs.
